6/29/2010- Just Announced, The Tillers -w- Ramblin' Jack Elliott!

It's official, we'll be opening for Mr. Ramblin' Jack Elliott himself on September 16th at the Historic Southgate House in Newport Kentucky. If you don't know who Ramblin' Jack is, well you've got a lot to learn so this'll be a perfect time. Wall Street Journal says "Ramblin' Jack Elliott, last musical partner of Woody Guthrie, mentor and model for young Bob Dylan, and sonic grandfather of just about every scruffy-voiced folksinger in the Western world." if that gives you any indication! Don't miss this up close and personal show with us and Ramblin' Jack..

We're pretty bummed as you can guess but hope to meet up again somewhere down the line. So, good luck and fast healing Willie. Stay offa' them skateboards for a bit.. kidding!

The Tillers Welcome Brother Aaron Geil!

It's my privilege to announce the newest Tiller to the ranks, and the best man for the job. Aaron Geil will be our new bass player and it's official! Let's see, what can I tell ya about our new man. He's tall, dark, bearded and can thump a mean rhythm. He's also the brother of Tiller guitarist Sean, so we're keeping it in the family. Aaron has had his hand in many a musical project throughout his 29 years on this earth. Some even being shared with his bro. Groups featuring the brothers Geil include The Mount Pleasant String Band, hardcore/punk band Dead End Path and Floodwater Brown. If you caught The Tillers at 2009's Midpoint Music Festival then you've seen Aaron in action as he was filling in that show. In fact, Aaron has amazingly conquered most all songs we can throw at him from our vast repertoire already so we're not feeling any slow down whatsoever. So here we go! Get ready Aaron. We've got a busy year ahead... Cheers to the new bass man! Oneofus.Oneofus.Oneofus!

"Racin" Jason's Farewell

There has been much buzz recently, regarding our bass player Jason's decision to end his time with The Tillers project. I'll take this time to set the record straight. Most of you know Jason only as the hardcore old timey bass thumper, but his talents don't end there. No sir, He is also a professional sprint car driver and a damn good one at that! Jason's racing accomplishments have been many, including the top honor title of AMSA Points Champion in 2007. As a family, He, his Father and Grandfather have been the sole working hands of Soudrette Racing for many years. A family team that leaves all others in the dust, literally!

Unfortunately, the busier we get, the less time we have for the other things loved in our lives. Jason has decided to hang up his bass with The Tillers and head for the race track to dedicate more time and energy to his first love, racing! With the utmost respect we bid Jason a fond farewell and the best of luck on the track. I asked Jason to join the band not because he was a perfect specimen of a bass player. Shoot, he'd never even played the upright bass! I asked him because he is a true friend and I know that whatever he puts his heart into he never fails to accomplish. Jason is a stand up guy and we are glad to have him always as one of the three who got this Tiller moving. Keep your eye on #44 he will always do great things...

Come give Jason beers and high fives as he plays his farewell show this Saturday, Feb.13th, at The Crows Nest!!!

This past June 2009 we were visited by Tom Brokaw himself at my home in Cincinnati Ohio. He had found our song from the Ludlow Street Rag Album titled, 'There Is A Road (Route 50), and thought he'd come and see what we're all about. In July a small program featuring The Tillers called a "Dispatch from the Road" aired on the USA Network and then on The Today Show. The full documentary will air on the USA Network at 7:00pm EST TONIGHT! This was a great project that we are very proud to be a part of and we'll truly never forget. Grand Opening!

Alright everybody, here it is! Our new web site all fancy and modern. Take a look around and stroll the grounds, just make sure you let us know how you like it. The D.I.Y. Depot is a special feature that is coming soon. It'll be a resource for, and act as an outlet for our fellow bands and musicians Doing It Ourselves. So look out for that. Well that's all for now I guess. A huuuuge thank you to our friends Kenny Jackson for developing the web site and making everything work, also Greg Riestenberg for the art and design of this project. They have done such a great job and continue to make this thing even better. Cheers to you guys, even if you didn't like our exploding chicken ideas... Can't win em' all.
